KINSOL TRESTLE TRAIL

South Cowichan Rotary Club

This project consisted of building a new access trail from the north abutment of the Historic Kinsol Trestle down to the Koksilah River. Steep grades and dense west coast rainforest made this project challenging in addition to tight project timelines and coordination with other site contractors. Higginson Consulting Ltd. (HCL) provided the overall project management for this task. HCL selected a local contractor for this work, and in conjunction with MacDonald & Lawrence Timber Framing Ltd., coordinated all site work including weekend volunteer work and site safety. Rough trail construction was completed by HRH Contracting (Bill Turner); clearing, grubbing, and surface gravels were all placed by volunteers from the South Cowichan Rotary Club.

This project was completed successfully under budget and within the schedule constraints. As a commitment to the local community, HCL donated the project management and site inspection services for this project, and is proud to have been part of the project team.
